Course overview and scope
In this course, we will be exploring the narrative essay, learn and understand what it is, and develop our skill in writing it. We will examine a couple of actual examples of the narrative form of essay to see how professional writers have employed the form. And as a final project, we will create our own narrative essay.
Narrative writing allows students to express their stories creatively. - To help students clarify their thinking, and teach them to express that in writing in an organized way.
Objectives
On completion of this course, students will be able to
- Explain and identify the components of narrative writing.
- Explain the similarities and differences between a narrative writing and a story writing.
- Compose a narrative essay on their own.
Competencies
- Narrative competency- Students’ narrative skill is important for them to express their stories/experiences creatively. It allows them to clarify and reflect on their thinking and to help them search for identity.
- Organizational skill- Narrative writing will allow students to present their story/experience/ideas in an organized manner keeping the audience engaged.
