Map reading and map drawing are important skills for  learning and exploring  geography. It is an art of  understanding and interpreting information shown on the map. To master the skill of map reading ,the reader must acquire the information presented on the map such as  map title,scale,distance,directions,natural and man-made features represented by various colours,signs and symbols.

Competency

Interpret information given on the map by applying map reading skills.

Objectives

Interpret and illustrate relief features from the contour map.

Locate places using grid references.

Calculate distance and direction 

Conversion of scales.
