Course Overview and Scope

The Social Studies' lesson on 'Hazard and Disaster'  is one of the important concepts to be imparted to help children understand the social problems that people have to face in the society due to Nature and the Human activities.  The students can use the information from the lesson to help in creating a safe place and society to live in.  The course will also educate the students about the types of hazard and disaster with enough interactive activities to extend their knowledge of the course. In completion of the course, the students would have achieved the following:

Competency

 Applies the knowledge and skills of safety measures to minimize the impacts of hazards and disasters.

Objectives:

1. Explain the terms Hazard and Disaster.

2. Describe the causes and consequences of the identified hazards.

3. Identify some of the preventive measures to reduce the impacts.
