Course overview and scope:

Understanding the Environment which is the main source of resources for all living beings is one of the core concept in Social Studies.. It provides air, food, water, shelter, and other essential needs.  The environment in its natural state is clean and stable. However, due to increasing human activities, the stability of the eco-system is disturbed.  This results in environmental degradation, pollution and loss of lives, which affect the health and wellbeing of living things.  This course will introduce students to content related to human impacts and the preventive measures to the environment. In completion of the course students will be able to meet the objectives and competencies listed below. 

Competencies:

 Evaluates pros and cons of hydropower, urbanization, and impacts of climate change.

Objectives:

  •  Discuss what is hydropower and it's advantages to the country.
  • Explain the pros and cons of the lifestyles in both urban and rural settings.
  •  Explain the causes and impacts of climate change.
