1. COURSE OVERVIEW AND SCOPE:

1.1 Structure of atoms (diagram with shells, nucleus and subatomic particles)
1.2 Relationship among mass number, number of neutron and atomic number
1.3 Electron configuration (in K, L, M, N notation including electron distribution rule in shells

2. COMPETENCY:

Explore the concepts of atomic structure to understand their properties and role in chemical reactions.

3. OBJECTIVES OF THE COURSE:

i. Describe the subatomic particles including their relative masses and charges to explain the structure of an atom.

ii. Design and develop the model of an atom to explain its composition and distribution of electrons. 

iii. Describe the common elements with electron configuration and diagrammatic representation of atomic structure to compare their characteristics and use in the daily life.
